Uplifting personal stories of transformation from people whose lives have been touched by cancer.

Dear Friends of CancerTalks,

I'm writing to let you know that CancerTalks will be closed as of April 19, 2024.

What will live on are the 58 interviews we produced over the past few years with people who were touched by cancer. We may be closing the doors but not our hearts and memories of these people and their contribution to the cancer space. This treasure trove of conversations will continue to be available to anyone who wants to hear the experiences of others who have been touched by cancer.

When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, I felt alone and so different from all my healthy friends and family who surrounded me. When I started to interact with people dealing with cancer, I found my first tribe and it made a huge difference to me. I was no longer the oddball (although some might disagree with that! ;o) I was surrounded by people who were having the same feelings that I was having. I was no longer alone.

Our CancerTalks interviews provide that feeling as I've heard some of our cherished listeners say. Here is a comment from Molly H. Reno:

Friends were talking up CancerTalks when it launched and honestly, I was not interested.  My 2003 cancer diagnosis was in the rearview mirror or so I thought.

When I was diagnosed in 2022 and struggling with treatment decisions including chemo I began listening to the podcasts.  I found solace in listening to the CancerTalks interviews.  I was grateful to find others who developed cancer despite following all the recommendations for healthy living (exercise, organic plant-based diet, meditation, etc.)  It was helpful to hear others describe their confounding treatment decisions and I felt less alone.

Being interviewed was an opportunity to give back for all Cancer Talks had given me.

Now -- after 47 years in the fields of transformation, world hunger, and, finally, cancer, I am retiring. And I'm already wondering what that will be like!

Claire, Kaitlyn, Annie, and Nora are looking at what's next. Each one of them has a field of interest, a specialty, and I'm confident that they will find or create their next right adventure.

With love and gratitude,

Cheryl Buck
